8 Week Old Shih Tzu
Six to eight weeks.
8 week old shih tzu. After about a month of life your shih tzu should settle into a pattern of sleeping for around 14 hours each day. Piper and shakira learn sit down and roll over on their first training session. The amount of sleep that your shih tzu requires is largely dependent upon the age of the dog. By the age of 12 or 13 months they are often ready to be bred.
Then as an adult that number will come down to about 12 hours. As they get older the hours of sleep will gradually reduce. Between 3 and 6 weeks after birth the shih tzu pup starts to play with its littermates. Also feed your puppy a high quality dog food 3 times a day on a consistent schedule to establish a routine and prevent fussy eating habits.
Weigh your 8 week old female shih tzu puppy on a pet scale. If your female puppy weighs 3 pounds she should grow to weigh 10 8 pounds as an adult. They think so mainly because of the very first vaccination which is usually done at this period. To care for a shih tzu puppy make sure you have plenty of hard rubber toys lying around the house since shih tzu puppies tend to have rough teething periods.
Three to six weeks. However only one vaccination does not protect the puppy from all infections and that is why you cannot yet walk it. A newborn shih tzu requires around 22 hours sleep during every 24 hour period. Two to eight months.
Many changes take place in the first year of a shih tzu puppy s life.
